OVERVIEW
The NWSL 2025 DRAFT was a total success but not without its comedic banter, questionable picks, and yes, controversy. Not since the days of KamaHamaHead have we had as much controversy during a draft. Here's the top bullet points from the 2025 Draft, kicking off Year 20 of the NWSL.....
RETURN OF THE O.C.
No way could the O.C. miss the landmark 20th year of the league he established in 2005. Arriving to the draft thinking that the draft party was still in session, the OC quickly realized that the draft had actually begun, as Peggy's Mighty Morphins were already on the clock. Fortunately, Peggy was experiencing technical difficulties that necessitated the CC (Current Commissioner) pausing the draft. This gave the OC time to cue up his draft page, but to his chagrin, he had some difficulty navigating the draft page. Before he knew it, the draft had re-started, Peggy had made her selection (with the assistance from more than one manager) and soon, it was the OC's turn to make his first pick. Not comprehending how the draft app worked, the OC requested that the draft be paused, but to no avail. The CC did not pause the draft as he did for Peggy's Mighty Morphins. No assistance came from the other managers and as a result, the OC selected a player he did NOT want. While diligently searching for George Pickens, the clock hit 2 seconds and the OC was stuck selecting RB De'von Achane. Welcome back OC..............
ONE-LINERS
The banter between the owners during the draft produced some one-liners and barbs that will be remembered for quite a while. "C" of "KC No-Stars expressed a comment that rivaled the wisdom of Solomon when he reminded everyone that s successful draft strategy means remembering that "you can never have too many running backs since they run with their legs"....... Prior to that jewel,, the OC told the owners that he "was happy to be back" (in the league). Jungle Bunny, never one to miss a lob, replied, "you're just happy not to be in that other place, burning up!" He then followed this line with "how can you be nervous about being in a place you don't even believe in?"..... I have to admit, that was kinda clever.... The OC provided a memorable quote when, in an attempt to explain why he selected Kicker Brandon Aubrey in the sixth round, he mused "Brandon will have more points than the available running backs that will never get on the field". That was a head scratcher for sure.... lol Finally, The MoodMeister couldn't resist taking his shot at the OC when he said: "stealing your keeper was the highlight of my 20 years in the league!". Finally, again, we have Mikey aka HoldMyyBeer comment on The Corral when he said " We're glad to have the Corral, but once Kev starts losing, he won't do any more Corrals" Hmmmmmm...... there just might be some truth to that.... LOL

What would a draft (or season) be without Prince singing his old hit, "Controversy"? The contro/versy, from here on to be referred to as "The Snafu" did not take long (round 2). Prince cued up the Revolution and begin singing his famous hit in the background as BillydaKid was kicking his feet and throwing his rattle across his playpen when he contended that his keeper, Cedarian DeLeon Lamb, was placed in the wrong round. The CC or AC (Actual Commissioner as Diggy refers to himself as) valiantly tried to convince KiddyPoo that the keeper was placed in the correct round (R1) but daKid wasn't haven't it. He felt that C.D. Lamb should have been a second round keeper. The AC posted screenshot proofs, daKidd refused to believe it.
Speaking to about "The Snafu" , daKidd, in his post-draft presser said: ""It (the keeper) should have been second round. Go back one more year and I'm real mad about this!! It effected my whole draft......This season is a loss!" The AC, speaking to pool reporters from the front seat of his Burgundy Commander said: "The proof clearly shows he was picked 12th, which is round 1. Keepers are kept in the round they are drafted. Its your (Kidds) oversight bro. You got done in by your love of Dem Boyz." OUCH!! It might be time to call in David Mulugheta to negotiate this thing. Or Jerry. "The Snafu" will be forever up there with "The Catch" , "Dez Caught It" , "Wide Right" and other famous moments in NFL history.
