PLAYOFF PUSH.....
Hard to believe that it was just a few weeks ago that we were engaged in the Draft for the 20th season of NWSL and now we are down to the FINAL WEEK of the regular season. THE PLAYOFFS!!! (click the hyperlink) begin next week!! Some teams are already IN but quite a few are fightin tooth and beer cans to get in this weekend.
MUSICAL "Playoff" CHAIRS
We've alllllllll played that game as kids. Line up the chairs. Line up more people than there are chairs. Start the music and when it suddenly stops, everyone attempts to get a seat. If you don't, you're eliminated. You're out. No soup for you!!! Welcome to the last week of the regular season. Two teams have clinched a spot. That leaves four more chairs, with six teams in the mix. A couple teams are locks, but nothing is set in stone as to which chair they land in. So let the music begin!!!!!!!

ALREADY GOT A CHAIR...... aka CLINCHED

Melly Mel has retreated back to his old name of daHeavyHitters. No matter what you call him, he's locked into the Numero Uno chair with an 11-2 going on 12-2 record. Nothing more to see here.

BiggiePlanz is locked into the Numero Dos chair. (did I say that right Mikey?) LOL... Biggie is at 10-3 going on 11-3. He can't overtake Mel (because of accumulated season points, so he's stuck at Number Two, win or lose. Nothing more to see here either.... But NOW the fun begins............................
DAkidd (8-5)

Currently has clinched a spot in the Playoffs. His chair is gauranteed. Win or lose this week, he can not move into second place. His scenario is simple. WIN and he remains in third place with a 9-5 season ending record. However, its gets dicey if he loses. IF he loses, AND Jungle wins, they would both have 8-6 records but Jungle moves into third place because of accumulated season points.
IF daKidd loses and Diggy wins, they would both end up with 8-6 records and accumulated point score becomes the tie-breaker. Diggy is only 38 accumulated points behind daKidd.

ORRRRR.... If daKidd loses AND BOTH JB and Diggy win, all three end up with identical 8-6 records. JB would end up in third place and 4th and 5th place would be determined by accumulated points between daKidd and Diggy. (Neither daKidd or Diggy can catch up to JB's current accumulated point score. JB is simply too far ahead of both of them) Therefore, there is the possibility that JB could end up in third, Diggy in fourth and daKidd in 5th. Wouldn't that be grand!!!!!!
JUNGLE BUNZ (7-6)

For Jungle Bunz, the mission is simple. Beat Biggie Planz and he's in. He gets a chair. The only question is WHICH chair. IF Jungle wins AND daKidd loses, both would end up with 8-6 records but JB would leapfrog daKidd into third place based on more based on more accumulated season points. IF Jungle and daKidd BOTH win, JB remains in fourth place because of season ending record.

IF Jungle LOSES, and Mikey WINS his game AND scores 128 more points than Jungle scores, Mikey and JB would both end the season with identical 7-7 records but Mikey would catapult into 4th place above JB because of accumulative season points. LOL... Thats called Mission Impossible, but it was kinda fun to type.....

DiggyDooRight 7-6

Again, WIN and he gets a chair with an 8-6 record. However, if Diggy wins and Jungle Bunz loses. that would push Diggy to 8-6 and drop JB to 7-7. Diggy moves up to 4th place. ANDDDD, IF Diggy wins and daKidd loses, they both end up with 8-6 records and total accumulated season points come into play, and remember, Diggy is only 38 points behind daKidd. The possibility exists that Diggy could jump from 5th to third IF Diggy wins, JB and daKidd lose, and Diggy outscores daKidd by 39 points. Wowww...

BUT if Diggy loses, he drops to 7-7 and that becomes a HOTT MESS.....
LAST MAN STANDING.... aka... THE HOTT MESS......

The schedule makers did a PHENOMINAL JOB... (yea, I misspelled it) on the season ending games. Did you notice that going into the final regular season week, there are two 7-6 teams and three 6-7 teams???? And better still, and this is the crazy part, NONE of these five teams play each other on the final week. Which means that there is the posibility that ALL FIVE of these teams could end up with 7-7 records, thus THE HOTT MESS... aka Last Man Standing.
Suffice to say that there are THREE CHAIRS remaining for FIVE players!!! The little Kid technically already has a chair. We just don't know which chair. That leaves 3 chairs for five players!!! Let the music begin!!!

For the sake of argument, lets start with this fun, but unlikely scenario: JB, Diggy, Mikey, OC, and BmoreKid ALL ending up 7-7. IF that were to happen, JB gets a chair simply because its nearly impossible for anyone to catch up to his accumulative points scored. KC NoStars would be crushing him in accumulated points but well, unfortunately, they scored over 2700 points but didn't win that many games!!! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?? hehehehehe...... oh well, they aren't in the musical chairs game... so JungleBunz is safe....
So now you have Diggy, Mikey, OC, and BMore Kidd fighting for TWO remaining spots. Mikey currently has 2553 accumulated points. The next closest is OC with 2455, BMore with 2423 and Diggy with 2418. Logic says that OC, Diggs and BMore are NOT catching Mikey, so Mikey gets the next to last chair. Meaning the final chair is a crabshoot between OC, Diggs, and BMore, going to whoever ends up with the most accumulated season points!!! Wouldn't THAT be a hoot.....

The same situation exists between OC, Diggs and BMore if they ALL LOSE this weekend and end up 6-8.
Soooooo, some of you are asking "what if MadDog 20/20 WINS his game and ends up 6-8 and tied with OC, Diggs, or BMore? The answer is simple. It wouldn't matter. MadDoggyDog is wayyyyy to many points behind in accumulated scoring to be offered a playoff chair.......
MOST LIKELY SCENARIO:
Kidd is in. Its just a matter of what seat he ends up in. It will either be 3rd, 4th, or 5th.
JB is a lock no matter what happens simply because of his accumulated points scored. He won't fall lower than 4th.
Its that 5th and 6th spot that will be a dogfight, to be determined by final season record OR accumulated season point scoring. Adding to the difficulty for some is the quirky NFL schedule that has four teams on a bye this late into the season..... THIS is NOT the week you want to win a game but not score enough accumulative points, OR lose a game because one of your players had a bad game..... THIS is certainly NOT the week you want to lose a game because your star player (aka Brock Purdy, Rico Dowdle, Jaxon Dart, Stefon Diggs) is on a bye, OR, you're that team that has an injured star player, (aka Amon-Ra St. Brown.)
And THATS why we've loved NWSL for the last 20 years.......... Let the musical chairs begin!!!
